Equipping third‑culture leaders to serve their communities with integrity.
Launching Gospel‑centered ministries in underserved neighborhoods.
Training the Next Generation of Mission-Minded Leaders
Light of Aloha Ministries is a discipleship and leadership development initiative designed to equip young, third-culture individuals with the tools to grow in faith, serve their communities, and lead Gospel-centered ministries.
It is funded and sustained by bi-vocational ministry leaders who leverage business and marketplace opportunities to support the ministry. The Aloha Program partners directly with Light of Aloha Ministries to provide immediate opportunities for ministry leaders. This model demonstrates how faith and work can be integrated to create a sustainable Kingdom impact.
The Barr family—Philip, Betsy, Nate, and John-Alan—live and serve in the heart of Honolulu, Hawai‘i. With a rich background in ministry, education, and cross-cultural living, the Barrs have spent over two decades building relationships and investing in communities both in the U.S. and abroad, including seasons in Canada, China, and South Africa. Philip serves as a ministry leader, while Betsy brings years of experience as a former educator turned entrepreneur and ministry leader.
Their deep passion for Light of Aloha Ministries is rooted in a shared calling to disciple third-culture leaders, reach underserved communities, and plant Gospel-centered churches that reflect the heart of aloha. As a bi-vocational family, they intentionally integrate faith and business to create sustainable impact and raise up a new generation of leaders across the islands and beyond.
